Why advertise with us
The Wells Post publishes news, analysis, explainers and opinion throughout the day, every day, across 7 news desks — Politics, Economy, Climate, Justice, Health, World, Tech & Power — and our opinion section.
- An issue-focused audience
- Readers who seek out in-depth coverage of policy, the economy, the climate and civil rights, from a progressive perspective.
- Fresh content every day
- New articles are published throughout the day, every day, giving your campaign new pages to appear alongside.
- A trustworthy environment
- Published editorial standards, a transparent AI policy and public corrections.
- Clearly labeled ads
- Every ad is labeled as an ad, and ads are never disguised as journalism.
We don’t publish audience figures we can’t stand behind. Prospective partners can ask us for current first-party data — page views by section and device, and where readers come from — drawn from our own analytics.
Advertising formats
Display advertising
Standard display units across the homepage, section pages and articles: leaderboards (728×90, or 320×100 on phones), medium rectangles and half-page units (300×250 and 300×600), and in-article and in-feed placements. Display ads are served through Google AdSense, so you can reach our pages through Google’s advertising platforms by targeting our site as a placement.
Newsletter sponsorships
A single sponsor message in our daily newsletter, clearly labeled as sponsored and kept separate from our editorial summaries. Arranged directly with us.
What we don't offer
Sponsored articles, advertorials, or native ads made to look like our journalism. We don’t sell coverage in any form — see our sponsored content policy.
Our ad standards
We want the ads on our site to be as trustworthy as our journalism. We don’t accept ads — and we use the blocking controls available to us to keep out ads — that:
- spread political or election disinformation, or misrepresent a candidate’s or official’s record or positions;
- make false or misleading claims about how, when or where to vote, or who is eligible;
- promote scams, get-rich-quick schemes, deceptive investment or cryptocurrency offers, or predatory lending such as payday loans;
- make unproven health claims, promote miracle cures, or spread vaccine or other medical misinformation;
- promote hate, harassment or discrimination against people because of who they are;
- are designed to look like our articles, or use our name, logo or bylines;
- contain adult content, or promote tobacco, vaping products or weapons;
- use deceptive or intrusive techniques, such as fake system warnings, misleading redirects, malware or audio that plays on its own;
- target children.
Political and issue advertising must comply with the law, clearly identify who paid for it, and meet every standard above. Ads served through Google are also subject to Google’s advertising policies. We may decline any ad at our discretion.
Readers: if you see an ad that breaks these rules, please send a screenshot and the address of the page to [email protected].
Editorial independence
Advertisers have no influence over our journalism. You can’t buy coverage, review articles before they are published, or ask us to change or remove them. The systems that choose and write our stories have no information about advertisers, ad placement is automated and separate from editorial decisions, and sponsoring the newsletter doesn’t affect which stories it features. Read more in our editorial standards.
Privacy and consent
Advertising on The Wells Post follows our privacy policy. Where the law requires consent for personalized advertising, ads are personalized only if the reader agrees; otherwise they are contextual. We never share our newsletter list, or analytics data about individual readers, with advertisers.
